Visit of a representative of the Serbian War Veterans' Association

The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Tunisia H.E. Mrs. Dijana Ivančić, met with Major Milan Mitrović, coordinator of the Serbian War Veterans' Association for southern Serbia and Kosovo and Metohija, with whom she discussed the Serbian military cemeteries in Menzel Bourguiba and Bizerte, where more than 2,400 Serbian soldiers from the First World War are buried.

Ambassador Ivančić informed her interlocutor about the activities and continuous work of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Tunisia in the field of preservation of Serbian military memorials, as well as that on the occasion of Armistice Day, November 11, the Embassy organizes a commemorative gathering and wreath-laying ceremony every year. The interlocutors agreed that it is very important to foster the culture of remembrance of the brave Serbian soldiers who gave their lives for freedom and homeland and to bring closer to the younger generations a common episode in the history of the Serbian and Tunisian people, who helped 62,000 Serbian soldiers and civilians in the most difficult moments during the war.

Major Mitrović visited the Serbian military cemeteries in Menzel Bourguiba and Bizerte, where he paid tribute to Serbian soldiers from World War I.
