Mrs. Dijana Ivancic, laid wreaths and paid tribute to the Serbian soldiers who gave their lives for the freedom of their homeland. Ambassador Ivančić brought this significant episode in the history of our country closer to those present, when, after the Albanian golgotha, wounded, sick and exhausted Serbian soldiers and civilians landed in Bizerte, where they had medical treatment and prepared themselves for the breakthrough of the Thessaloniki Front. She emphasized that Serbia remembers the solidarity, humanity and generosity of the friendly Tunisian people who provided the Serbian army with all the necessary living conditions during their stay in Tunisia, as well as its allies and friends who provided assistance in the most difficult moments during the Great War.

She stressed the importance of preserving a culture of remembrance and of the common commitment of all countries to preserve international peace, so that the mistakes of the past are never repeated.
