On the occasion of the Statehood Day of the Republic of Serbia, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Tunisia organised a reception on February 13, 2025, which was attended by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research H.E. Mr. Mondher Belaid and Minister of Tourism H.E. Mr. Soufiane Tekaya on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Tunisia, members of the diplomatis corps, represemtatives of Tunisian institutions, academic community and media, as well as diaspora.

The ceremony opened with the intonation of the national anthems of Serbia and Tunisia and a video speech by H.E. Mr. Marko Djuric, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia. The guests were then welcomed by Ambassador H.E. Mrs. Dijana Ivancic who spoke about the extraordinary results that Serbia has achieved over the past years, emphasizing that today our country is one of the fastest growing economies with an internationally recognised investment climate as well as the proud host of the Specialised Exposition EXPO 2027.

Speaking about the traditional friendship between Serbia and Tunisia, she emphasized our readiness to strengthen cooperation with Tunisian partners in the spirit of decades-long friendship and for the benefit of the well-being of our two people, which was confirmed during the recent bilateral political consultations held in Tunisia. She pointed out that, on a multilateral level, our two countries are committed to respecting the principles of international law and expressed great gratitude to friendly Tunisia for its principled support in preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Tunisia, the guests were addressed by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research H.E. Mr. Mondher Belaid, who confirmed in his speech traditional friendship between our countries, which dates back to the First World War. He expressed gratitude to Ambassador Ivancic for her contribution and commitment to strengthening friendly relations and cooperation between Serbia and Tunisia.
