Tunisian newspaper Le Quotidien published an article written by Ambassador Dijana Ivancic on the occasion of the Armistice of the First World War, on 11th November 1918.
Ambassador Ivancic presented historical facts testifying to the difficult times and the suffering that the Serbian army went through during the Great War, which, unfortunately, are not sufficiently known to the Tunisian public. She spoke about the heroism and immense courage of Serbian soldiers who sacrificed themselves for the freedom of the homeland in order to ensure peace for future generations.
Through a historical overview of the arrival of Serbian soldiers in Bizerte from 9th January 1916, she underlined the important role of friendly Tunisia in the recovery of our army, as well as its solidarity and humanity which will forever remain in the collective memory of the Serbian people.
The text emphasizes the values of peace, freedom and justice that our ancestors fought for, and calls for solidarity, friendship and mutual commitment of all countries in order to preserve international peace.
